Do you ever wish someone could tell you the correct answers to the “Test of Your Life”? Sometimes I do. Like right now. I went to school for radio. I went to a reputable post-secondary institution. I graduated with honours! Which, by the way, means nothing in the real world, but still, I made the Dean’s List, and that’s bad ass.
Fast forward a few years, and I find myself unemployed. Not because I did anything wrong. It was all….circumstantial, for lack of a better term. Things happen. People get laid off. Whatever.
I completely shifted gears and started doing road construction. I made ridiculously good money and worked pretty long hours. But the money was something I’ve never seen in my life. There are so many things I’ve been able to do with that money. Like go on a vacation with my partner.
Road construction season will be coming to a close before I know it. Goodbye to the good money, goodbye to the long hours and incidentally goodbye to a friendship (but that’s a blog post for another day). I find myself in a situation where I don’t know what to do next. Like I really just don’t know.
Obviously I’m going to go back to work. But I really don’t think I’ll be going back to radio.
I’ve applied for jobs with the government health agency, but they an take months to get back to you. Something tells me I’m going to be riding the Retail Train until I get myself sorted out. Stay tuned…
What about you? Has this ever happened to you? What did you do?
